Dear Alumni & Parents,
It’s been thought about for years, and now it’s finally happening – a football team at Henry Abbott!! As you may have already heard, under the direction of Principal Jerry Salese , what many of us dreamed of in the past is finally coming true. The process of starting a football team has begun, and the momentum is being driven by the excitement of an even stronger “Wolverine Spirit” to
be had by the fall of 2008.
Our new,
state of the art school building, which includes new academic classrooms,
science labs, a library, and all new trade/technology shops, is
nearing completion in 2008. There are new tennis courts already in place and by this summer we will have new baseball and soccer fields as well. Add a football team to these awesome improvements and HATS will be attracting many more young men and women from the greater Danbury area. In
turn, we will also be able to add other sports for our female students
such as Cheerleading.
As wonderful
as it all is, the reality of starting a football team is the large
expense. With the help of our alumni and the local community, we are hoping to raise the funds required by the State of CT to institute a first-class football program. Once that happens, the State of Connecticut will then provide the remaining money needed to hire coaches and make the program official. Time is of the essence as 2007 is almost over and we need to confirm our commitment to the State as soon as possible.
We need your
help! Your donation can make this dream come true beginning with the Class of 2009. If
