Abbott Tech's brand new fitness center is popular with staff and students alike.  All students are trained on the equipment during Physical Education class.  A number of them choose to stay after school to work out.

We spoke with a few fit folks after school one day.  Sophomores Ricardo and Pablo enjoy coming to the fitness center.  "The machines are new.  We used to go to the Y;  There's more space here."

Mr. Bennett, a staff member who is participating in the Abbott Tech's Biggest Loser competition, works out frequently after school.  "It's convenient.  I've used other gyms.  I give this one a ten out of ten."

The Physical Education instructors are happy with their new territory. With the State's focus on students passing the fitness test, having a  fitness center makes a lot of sense.  "When we were asked for input before the renovations, we wanted a fitness center.  Our consultant backed us," commented Mr. Wethered.

Mr. Pepe, who was also monitoring the area, added, " It has a positive influence on the kids.  It gives them something to do after school."
