Culinary Arts Department Receives Certification from

Culinary Institute of America

Recently, the Culinary Arts department received certification from the Culinary Institute of America. The students of their program, upon graduation, will now meet the Foodservice Experience Requirement for CIA. This means the students will no longer need to complete an additional 6 months of food service before being admitted into the Culinary Institute of America’s program.

Department Head Jim Rizzio and Chefs' Mike Domanick and Joe Tartaglia demonstrate daily the work ethic and skill sets their industry has come to expect from one of their graduates. The hard work and dedication to their students has become the foundation in their program allowing Abbott Tech's Culinary Arts department to thrive.

Chef Rizzio has 40 years of experience in the trade and has been teaching for 15 years. He began his teaching career at JM Wright Technical High School in Stamford Connecticut.

Chef Domanick has been teaching for 32 years. He began his teaching career at JM Wright Technical High School in Stamford, Connecticut, where he was Department Head for the majority of that time.

Chef Tartaglia has been teaching for 4 years, a long time chef/owner of many local area restaurants' with over 40 experience in Culinary Arts.

Their freshmen exploratory program is the second highest attended.

 Congratulations Chefs!
