Photo of School Director Bruce SieversWelcome to the Cheney Technical High School web site. I hope that your visit to our homepage will encourage you to pursue a further inquiry into our school.

Cheney Tech enrolls students from a diverse twenty-six-town region that includes the urban areas of East Hartford, Hartford, and Bloomfield to the suburban and rural towns of Manchester, Glastonbury, Vernon, Ellington, and Coventry.

Our student population of 540 students can select a major program of study from a catalog of ten different technologies. A highlight of our technology curriculum is the Diesel Technology shop, the only such program on the secondary level in the State of Connecticut. Students enrolled in the construction trades (carpentry, electrical, HVAC) are involved in authentic work experiences in the shop as well as on out of school construction sites. The automotive trades (auto mechanics, diesel technology) are actual production garages where students work on customer vehicles. Many students from the information systems technology and computer aided drafting and design programs continue their education in college. The newest addition to our trade program is culinary arts. Students graduating from the machine technology and welding programs are in high demand by area businesses.

A feature of student life at Cheney Tech is our biweekly Club Day program during which all students participate in advisor led club activities ranging from skeet shooting, archery, billiards and movie club. Our athletic teams have won several Conference titles in the last five years.

I invite you to contact Cheney Tech to arrange a visit. We hope you decide to stay with us.

Sincerely,

Bruce Sievers
