Science instructor Linda Edmonds
recently participated in Mimio training at Ellis Tech and is practicing
by using the technology to prepare her students for a formative
assessment using the Curriculum Embedded Performance Task – Energy
Uses in CT. Students received instruction in analysis of graphs
showing long-term and short-term trends.
A second part of the lesson
focused on what makes a GREAT answer to an open ended response
question. Finally, students received scaffolding that could then
be used as they completed a five paragraph essay.
Mrs. Edmonds
commented, “I
was amazed at how this piece of technology increased my students’ engagement
in the lesson. Mimio allowed me to face my students for the lesson
instead of turning my back to write on the board.”
The opportunity to develop a
short – 3 slide – lesson
and use the “Reveal” tool, colored digital ink and
Mimio was exciting. It also was used later that day to clarify
classroom issues with a parent by emailing the notes to her at
home. Try it – you just might LIKE it!
