The Connecticut State Police and the American Legion Department of Connecticut sponsored the 10th annual State Police Youth Week. The program ran from July 19th to July 24th at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy in Meriden, CT.
Paula Garcia and Ethan Falla were acknowledged and honored for their achievements and efforts at the training camp. Paula was awarded a $750.00 savings bond and Ethan was offered a $750.00 scholarship for a college of his choosing. Our very own Trooper Packer was there at the graduation ceremony. He was very instrumental in the seniors’ presence at the training camp. There were over 50 cadets at the camp; seven awards were presented.
The program is modeled after the actual recruit training at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy. The program is offered to students that have completed their junior year of high school. The cadets participated in a variety sessions involving physical and mental challenges including patrol techniques, use of laser, accident investigations, emergency vehicle operation, firearms, and criminal investigations. The cadets experienced physical conditioning, daily inspections, and drill and ceremony. You can contact the American Legion Department of Connecticut for more information.
Congratulations to Paula and Ethan and Thank you to Trooper Packer |
