Career Development Mission Statement

To give every student the opportunity to learn and demonstrate basic academic, professional and social skills, to explore a variety of careers, higher level academic endeavors and contribute to community service as well as analyze, synthesize and reflect on their learning experiences.

Career Development is a required course designed to provide students with the specific skills and competencies needed to be successful employees, advanced students, entrepreneurs, and leaders.  Students are exposed to experiences that are designed to further develop their professional and social skills, and include topics such as, employment preparation, employment expectations, time management, communication skills, service learning, career exploration, post-secondary opportunities and independent living.  Through the use of self-awareness activities, students are better able to make wise educational and occupational decisions as they plan for their careers and post-secondary education.
