At Goodwin Tech, shops work together on a regular basis. One recent
example is the joint project between the Computer Aided Drafting
and Design (CADD) department and the Carpentry department. Mike
Cyr, Carpentry Department Head, said that he had a shed building
project scheduled in early 2008. He asked the Computer Aided Drafting
and Design program to help develop plans for the two sheds. CADD
Department Head Joe Granja assigned two 11th grade students Jose
Baez and Adrian Zygo to the project. Within a week, they developed
the plans using CADkey and Key Creator 6.0. Another example of
teamwork at Goodwin Tech.
The Carpentry
Department then used the plans to construct the 10 foot by 14
foot shed with a 5 pitch hip roof that has architect roof shingles.
They also made
and installed the barn style shed doors. installed the soffit and
bent the trim work for the fascia. They
used texture 111 for the exterior siding.
