Academic ACCESS |
What is Academic ACCESS?
- A supervised, quiet study environment for students. Structured so students can "access" teachers for extra help, make-up work, enrichment activities.
- Meets 7th period daily (1/4 credit) – although Tuesday and Thursday are for quiet study only. Teachers have a “buddy teacher” who takes their students on Tuesday or Thursday so they can have common planning.
How can ACCESS be used?
- Independent academic study time (Homework/Reading/Peer Tutoring/ Academic Assignments).
- Pre-arranged travel for teacher assistance.
- Request peer tutor assistance.
- Make up tests & assignments from an excused absence.
- Academic Intervention required for students with more than one F or seniors with deficiencies. *
- Travel to the Media Center or Computer Lab for research and academic-related work (Pre-arranged pass).
- Must have a pass from an academic teacher/media center prior to ACCESS period in order to travel.
- Student or academic teacher may initiate an ACCESS Pass.
- Academic teacher should complete the ACCESS Pass in advance; log the requested student their records.
*Please note that any student with an “F” in an academic course is required to attend that teacher’s ACCESS class at least one period per week |
