November 8, 2006

Meeting opened at 6:30 pm.

Secretary’s report: read and approved with one small fix to the section of the state wide PFO meeting, that said meeting was held in Sept. not “prior”. Motion to accept L. Davis, 2nd by L. Berns

Treasurer’s report: The treasurer was not present to give report. Questions were raised for a few items: 1. where was the deposit for the prior school dance of which PFO sold refreshments; 2. a check was listed on the report with no amount designated; 3. when the fact was stated we have a checking and savings acct. so that there is a possibility we have the funds for the CPA, the treasurer’s report was tabled by John and seconded by S. Matteson until further investigation.

Old Business:

Grad Party: Suzanne Matteson reported not many places available, Montville wants Mystic Oral School same night as us. K. Sidle and S. Matteson were going to check out the Norwich YMCA, cost there is $1400. Possibility of charging students to attend party to get funds. Committee will have a meeting in Dec. Other places mentioned for locations.
John was supposed to be calling someone on $3. tee shirts.?
Briefly mentioned was what are seniors doing for a class trip. Disney??

Craft Show- as of today, Joanne Ammons has 38 crafters signed up with payments.
There is an issue with tables still, attempting to find. Can crafters set up the night before? We’ll set up the tables on Friday evening. Crafters will come in set up on Saturday, get free coffee and donut. Crafter will donate an item to a “door prize” table for people to win.
Joanne wants to create a menu – hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, tea, coffee, water, tuna boat.
Flyers will go to teachers to donate for bake table. Joanne has used some cash for stamps, boards, etc. will submit slips at next meeting.
It was mentioned have Alex Pesarik and seniors work the craft fair.

School Store: has not been able to open.

Open house: unable to have a table for the PFO. A lot of people attended.

Non Profit Status: approximate cost is $500. We were informed that we need a lawyer and an accountant. Ask Cindy to ask accountant if he’ll take a payment plan.

Fund Raisers: nothing to discuss.

Sports Boosters: mentioned the sports banquet on 11/13/06. Also, S. Matteson would like to sell hot dogs, candy, drinks at the basketball games, and would like to share the profit with the sports boosters.

New Business:

NEASC: will be arriving May 1st and 2nd for the five year evaluation. The process has already started.

Statewide PFO: October meeting was cancelled, next one is being held 11/20/06.

Items brought up by John: due to a law, the schools can no longer accept donations from contractors who deal with the state if they have a lobbyist. Nothing can be donated to any state entity, but they can donate to the PFO, and we in turn can donate the items to the school
The expansion of Grasso, the academic wing and office areas will not be taking place till at least 2010.
There is a food drive taking place Nov. 6th and 7th, ½ day passes will be passed out to whoever brings in the most food.

Motion to adjourn by J. Ammons, 2nd by S. Matteson @ 8:15 pm.
