Meeting opened at 6:32 pm.
Secretary’s Report: read and
approved with changes: Under Items brought up by John, they were
actually brought up by Ken, change statements to schools can no
longer accept donations from any contractor who deals with the state,
and also any company who has a lobbyist in Hartford can not donate
to the school. Motion to accept L.Davis, 2nd S.Matteson.
Treasurer’s Report: a partial
treasurer’s report was drafted by K. Sidle, motion to accept
by S. Matteson, 2nd by L. Davis.
Heidi Balch from Central Office came,
she works with Skills USA, parental involvement and hairdressing/fashion
shops. PFO can sell non-nutritional food after last school bell.
State wide PFO meetings are held in Middletown @ 6pm, every other
month, open to all PFO parents, meetings are there to use as a sounding
board, to get ideas and solutions from other schools. If you find
any grants, some one in Central office, possibly Sandy Casper could
help you fine tune it. Drew Solis is there working with “CT
Tech HS Foundation”, it’s outside the school system,
and can receive donations from businesses. PFOs need non-profit
status, can raise no more than $25,000 than must file taxes. Can
keep a certain amount? In and roll over to next year with out problems.
Old Business:
Craft Show: went off okay even though
we couldn’t set up Fri. nite. Crafters weren’t happy
shoppers were not buying. Possibly change date for next year. J.
Ammons would like to send out flyers to the crafters for suggestions
for next year, possible lower price to $25 if crafter brings table,
if need table add $10 more. PFO has 3 plastic tables. Not one teacher
donated anything for the bake sale, very disappointing. J. Ammons
submitted bills for $141.97, S. Matteson motion to reimburse, L.
Davis 2nd.
Sports Boosters: No sweatshirts yet
to sell because Critical Signs is busy with Christmas orders. With
sales at Basketball games, Suzanne would like 50/50 split Grad Party
and Sports boosters. Need ice, will ice machine be working? Or which
hotel may we possibly get ice from? Check with Mr. Jones. Mr. Lewin
has been giving boys money to stay for games, Suzanne would like
to donate $100 to Athletics for basketball admission for players
to each others games. Motion by S. Matteson, 2nd by J. Ammons.
Grad Party: Discussed spring fund raiser
@ Applebee’s and bowling at Coast Guard Academy. S. Matteson
made motion for $500 for deposit to hold location, 2nd by G. Fafard.
They will need a copy of our liability insurance, will possibly
need to rent some tables and chairs. Suzanne would like everyone
to take 5 pizza cards to sell them, since we have so many. S. Matteson
had invoice for $135 for t-shirts. Motion L.Davis 2nd by J. Ammons
to approve funds.
New Business:
Treasurer: Pam has officially resigned.
Karen Sidle will be acting treasurer and acting secretary. Motion
to accept by S.Matteson, 2nd by J. Ammons.
Shirt Refund: Winter Harden will need
to show proof of cancelled check for a reimbursement.
School close: School will be closed
12/14 or environmental testing, which can’t be done with students
and faculty in building, possibility also 12/15. Graduation can
not be before the 180th day.
Mr Beebe: He was not present, no specifics
or dates known, just to have a Klondike Run in January to raise
money for track. S.Matteson made motion to work with Sports Boosters,
L. Davis 2nd.
Football: John only stated that Mrs.
Bell is in the process of contacting another school in the area.
More to come.
Other Items: Need new refrigerator
for school store, a refurbished one at Pequot Appliance costs about
$100-$150. Motion to approve up to $150 made by S. Matteson, 2nd
by L. Davis. Possibly need $20 to take to transfer station.
