Last
year's extremely successful racing effort in the X car division
resulted in a 3rd place in the final season standings. The
Grasso Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing (ACRR) students
are more determined than ever to show their stuff at the front
of the pack in this year's racing season.
The
team is putting the finishing touches on this season's racecar,
recently taking delivery of it from the chassis fabricator
(Sunset Welding). The chassis fabrication process was heavily
documented by the fabricator, to allow students to see what
it takes to create a safe and structurally sound racecar. Portions
of the car were left for the students to complete, and the
team of ACRR students were anxious to get ”hands on” involved with the completion.
Our
young professionals in training have risen to the challenge
put forth by Mr. Violette, and the car will surely be completed
in time for the new season starting May 6th. Although the team
was proud of last year's effort, it also fueled their desire
to out do themselves this year.
Many
of the students involved in this effort include the sons and
daughters of Speedbowl racing legends. Some of these parents
offer assistance with car setup to help us further improve
this Championship seeking conquest. Stay tuned….. |
