The Grasso girls soccer team finished their inaugural
season strong. They ended the season with a 3-0 win over rival
Vinal Tech.
Leading the Lady Eagles were co-captains
Morgan Newlin and Luisa Vasquez. They both demonstrated outstanding
leadership and brought the young team together.
Morgan Newlin also won the team MVP. Senior Jen Rogers won the
sportsman ship award for showing respect and dedication to the
sport, her teammates and opponents.
Sophomore Sara Duarte was the team’s top scorer. She was
supported by a strong sophomore class of Aisha Change, Veronica
Vasquez, Lauren Ramirez, Ti Howard. The sophomores also dominated
the defense with Ashleigh Munton and Lexi Thornton averaging 10
saves per game in goal and Ashelyn Smith, Gabby Valesquez and Jessica
Bostik on D.
Stephany Calle won the most improved and Olga Goralchuk used her
speed to break through the defense time and time again.
The lone freshman, Ally Dole, was stellar on defense and contributed
to a strong offensive surge at the end of the season. |
