Business Office Technology Bilingual Program (English/Spanish)

The objective of the Business Office Technology Program is to prepare students for entry-level Clerical, Bank Teller, Receptionist, and Data Entry positions. Students will be taught to efficiently and effectively use Windows operating system to create and manage files, perform keyboarding and data entry functions in an office environment.

The Business Office Technology mission is to prepare students in the shortest time possible for positions requiring extensive business computing knowledge or highly focused specialty training. The program prepares students for entry level positions, as well as helping those in search of career advancement.

Are you English/Spanish bilingual? If the answer is yes, you already have the advantage because tomorrow's high paying jobs are reserved for those with bilingual skills and computer knowledge. The demand for Spanish bilingual language individuals who possess solid computer and office knowledge is undeniable. Ever notice in the classifieds how employers look for job candidates with computer skills? Whether it’s simple word processing, creating spreadsheets or fact-finding using the Internet, computer know-how is essential.
The Business Office Technology program will offer hands-on training with computers. The classes will be offered in English and Spanish. New classes begin every fall and spring semester. The offerings include MSWord, MS Excel, Internet usage, and navigation tips. The series is geared also to people who need to “brush up” on their computer skills and are interested in learning of the latest updates to the software programs. The program is free as a result of a grant from New Opportunities, Inc.; however, registration at NO, Inc. and Kaynor THS is required.

Students are required to be bilingual (English/Spanish) in order to meet the admission criteria.

Not only will you build greater confidence in yourself, you will gain the computer skills necessary to do a great job.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a certificate.

Computer Literacy is imperative in today's job market. With the right skills, the door is opened to numerous career opportunities.

The BOT Program provides students with the skills they need to obtain employment in positions requiring computer literacy. This short training program enables students to focus solely on gaining computer literacy and quickly enter the job market able to compete for positions in business, industry or government that require entry-level knowledge of computer operation.

Prerequisites:
Before you can register for the BOT program, you must pass a placement test. The placement is provided by New Opportunities, Inc. at 232 North Elm Street, Waterbury, CT during the summer. A high school diploma or GED certificate is recommended, but not required.

General Information

Class Times
Class typically meets three days a week for three hours a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, for 22 weeks. Tutorial computer lab will be offer on Fridays from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm as needed.

Attendance
The student can ONLY miss a maximum of three of theory class. Any absence exceeding this will require the student to drop from the class. Students MAY NOT miss the first day of class.
