Kaynor Tech's own Bill Barbarito has been named the Athletic Coach of the Year by the Olympian Club of Greater Waterbury. Barbarito earned the award through his outstanding record of coaching at Kaynor Tech over the last fifteen years.

As soccer coach, his teams have had a record of 166 wins, 59 losses and 17 ties. He has won two league championships and three conference championships. In 2006, he was given the Sportmanship Award by the Class M Western Board Officials.

As baseball coach, Barbarito has compiled a record of 161 wins and 105 losses. He has won 2 league championships and 5 championships. In 2001, he also received the Sportsmanship Award from the Central Board of Umpires.
