Program

W.F. Kaynor Technical High School is committed to a total school reform.  The basis of this initiative involves the introduction and implementation of work- based, school -based and connecting activities for all ninth grade students.  The mission of our School to Career reform is to create a sustainable, project- based initiative, in which all staff will be trained in STC and all students will receive school-based, work-based and connecting activities as an integral part of their high school education.

COMMON COMPETENCIES

     The School to Career Mission is that students receiving a diploma from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School will know, understand, and be able to do the following:

LANGUAGE ARTS

    1.   Read a variety of texts with understanding.

    2.   Read technical terminology with understanding.

    3.   Use and apply appropriate terminology in written text.

    4.   Complete work-related written materials.

    5.   Use the conventions of standard English to write clearly and legibly.

    6.   Produce materials necessary for entry into the career field.

 

MATHEMATICS

    1.   Select and use appropriate mathematical approaches and tools necessary to complete job tasks.

    2.   Apply math skills to calculate and solve problems in shop.

 

ATTITUDE  &  ATTRIBUTES

    1.   Assume responsibility for behavior and consider the possible consequences of their actions.

    2.   Assume responsibility for the consequences of their actions.

    3.   Transfer newly acquired knowledge and skills to new situations.

    4.   Adjust personal style to demands of the situation.

    5.   Develop initiative by taking on challenges and responsibilities.
