| In
September the Kaynor Senior and Junior Plumbing and Heating students
began the final stages of a production job roughed in during the
2006-2007 school year. The home consists 3/1/2 baths and a five
zone hydro air heating system. The job is scheduled to be completed
to allow the homeowner to move in for the holidays.
This jobsite offered a wide variety of on task experience for
my students. Students piped two 330 gallon oil tanks in tandem
with piping, valves, and filters. The drainage waste and vent
system of PVC was extensive and encompassed much of the floor
plan of the 3000 square foot residence. Students installed copper
water supply piping throughout, as well as copper heat loops providing
the air handlers with hot water. The boiler is a wet base multi
zone unit with a 50 gallon indirect water heater to serve the
twin whirlpools on the second floor. It will be fired and running
before the chill sets in.
Few jobsites allow the optimum learning experience for my students
that this one has. Parents and faculty are invited to view the
site with a simple call to Mr. Wheelahan for a convenient time.
