On
Wednesday October 29, students from Mrs. Hayes 3DII class participated
in a unique and rare opportunity. They worked with sculptor
Robert Roesch at the new Norwich Tech High School to help prepare
the site for his large and impressive sculpture.
The students
along Mrs. Hayes, worked with the artist to hang templates where
the real steel sculpture will hang. It was a very laborious
process where precision and accuracy was paramount. It
was a cold day and windy, but the students got the job done with
a very grateful Robert Roesch supervising.
Mr. Roesch’s
sculpture, commissioned by the State of Connecticut is to be
installed at the new Norwich Tech building on 7 Mahan Drive in
November. The sculpture is to be the focal point of the new buildings’ main
entrance.
Robert Roesch is an international sculptor residing
in Philadelphia whose design was chosen by a panel from several
applicants. Works by Mr. Roesch have also been installed on the
campus of Norwalk community College, Texas A&M
campus and most recently he finished a work in China. |
