Recently, the Culinary
Arts department received certification from the Culinary Institute
of America. The students of their program, upon graduation, will
now meet the Foodservice Experience Requirement for CIA. This means
the students will no longer need to complete an additional 6 months
of food service before being admitted into the Culinary Institute
of America’s program.
Chef Tom Flaherty and Chef Mike McDowell demonstrate daily the work ethic and skill sets their industry has come to expect from one of their graduates. The hard work and dedication to their students has become the foundation in their program allowing Emmett O’Brien’s Culinary Arts department to thrive.
Chef Flaherty has 40 years of experience in the trade and has been teaching for 15 years. He began his teaching career at Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury Connecticut.
Chef McDowell has 29 years of experience in the trade and has been
teaching for 3 years. He began his teaching career at A.I.Prince
Technical High School in Hartford Connecticut. Their
freshmen exploratory program is among the highest attended.
Congratulations Chefs! |
