Muchkin Invades Local Home
Private
homeowner Bill Lockwood of Oxford, CT is thrilled to have a Munchkin
in his house despite the rumored objections of the Wizard of
Oz. Mr. Lockwood called Plumbing Department Head Mr. Frank
and asked that the plumbing for his new home be handled by the
students at Emmett O’Brien.
Junior and senior plumbing classes
have been going to Mr. Lockwood’s residence since spring. Sinks,
showers, and toilets are being installed.
In addition the plumbing students are
working with the latest piece of equipment to hit the market,
the Munchkin Boiler. The plumbers have been learning about
the efficiency and the advantage of the boiler’s newly
revised compact design.
The Munchkin Boiler is being used more
and more in local homes to decrease homeowner’s fuel expenses. This
boiler modulates its firing rate to match the energy needs of
the space surrounding it.
The smaller size of the Munchkin Boiler
makes positioning much less complicated. The boiler weighs
only one hundred and twenty five pounds. The cast iron
boilers of the past weighed up to six or eight hundred pounds. The
Munchkin is constructed to fit through standard doorways, making
it easier to handle.
If the homeowner enjoys one Munchkin,
others can easily be added. These ‘tiny tots’ take
up so little space that they are made to hold one boiler on top
of another. This stacking benefit is attractive for buyers
who are looking to avoid clutter.

Other features of the Munchkin Boiler
include stainless steel construction with a 316L heat exchanger,
light design, fully modulating for ultra high efficiency, direct
vent with standard schedule40 PVC for venting (eliminating the
need for flue pipe and a chimney in the house); plastic pipe;
quiet operation; state-of-the-art control; sealed combustion;
and inspection for one hundred percent quality satisfaction. This
piece of equipment is a dream for plumbers and homeowners.
Manufacturers of the Munchkin Boiler
hope that environmentalists will run to stores and buy these
mini marvels. This particular boiler is environmentally
friendly. There is little doubt that this ‘rosy’ invention
will be a future thorn in the side of the gas companies because
the average gas bill for a hone with a Munchkin Boiler will be
considerably lower than a bill for a home without this equipment.
Richard Lopez, a plumbing senior, commented, “ I
am honored to be learning and working with this new appliance,
and I can’t wait to see our ‘little Munchkin’ in
full operation.” Richard and his classmates are
working hard to complete this intriguing assignment. |
