2007-2008 Girls Basketball Team
Season

The Girl’s basketball team finished the season
with an overall record of 9-12. Although 5 of the 12 losses were
5 pts of less, those losses can be used as motivation next year
in the close games. This year’s seniors consisted of Maquachera
Holder, a lighting quick guard with the ability to penetrate through
most zones, Taina Sanchez, the smallest post in the post, and Myra
Montanez, who turned in her Manager certification to lace up the
sneakers. If only Myra played all four years. Her contribution
and improvement as an individual were tremendous this season. The
team, faculty, and staff of Prince Tech wishes them all the best. Rebeca Vanguilder, a junior, became only the 2nd junior in Prince Tech Girl’s basketball history to score 1,000 pts. Rebeca accomplished this achievement on January 25th 2008. The future is bright for Rebeca as she plans on becoming even better next year. The sophomore class of Saquya Gaston, Mikesheka Baltimore and Jalissa Bridges, all post players, are all planning to work hard in the off season to prepare themselves for the task of controlling the paint. Nancy Melendez, also a sophomore, has proved to be one of the best defensive players in the conference and in the state. Her quickness and leadership were very valuable this year and look forward to even more intensity from her next year. The freshmen class, collectively, has the potential to be the best class in Prince Tech Girl’s Basketball history. Khamari Grant, Jenny Garcia, Natalie and Jenny Nawokowski (twins) all came in and contributed immediately to the team. If all can gel together and work on their chemistry, sky is the limit. By all of them chosen for the same shop, culinary, their team work and communication is already developing. |
