USA is a national organization with which the Connecticut Technical
High School System is affiliated. Students develop trade and personal
skills while interacting with students from other vocational programs
statewide. The Skills Olympics held each spring is the statewide
competition, which sends Connecticut representatives to the National
Skills Olympics every summer.

Prince Tech Does Well at
State SkillsUSA Competition
The 31st Annual Skills USA Competition was held on Friday March
28, 2008 at Vinal Technical High School. Hundreds
of student from different schools gathered together to compete
in various skill competitions. The Prince Tech teams consisted
of 25 competitors and enter 9 competitions, winning trophies/medals
in 6 events.
Destiany Hunter won first place in Job Interviewing. Ramonita
Garcia won first place in Job Demo. Destiany and Ramonita
will be competiting in the National Skill USA in Kansas this
summer.
Placing first in the Freshmen Leadership Competition was Cynthia
Recorder. Third place trophies went to Rebecca Van Guilder in
Culinary and Gladys Suarez in Freshmen Leadership. Quiz
bowl Team 1 which consisted of James Bonilla, Mayra Montanez,
Taina Sanchez, Noemaris Martis and John Pendergast finished with
a third place trophy. Finishing in the top six were Medalists
Carlos Rodriguez and Jazmin Negron in Job Interview and
Taina Sanchez in Spelling. As always PRINCE TECH team was

Prince
Tech Students Participate in SkillsUSA Day of Service
Congratulations
to all the students who participated in the Skills USA Day of
Service on October 5, 2007. Student removed all trash from the
Mary Hooker Nature Trail and from around the streets surrounding
Prince Tech. Student also collected toiletries for the Battered
Women’s
Shelter in Hartford. In the afternoon the students attended a
luncheon at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.
