Seniors Kayla Burchard and Nate McCarthy have been selected as this year's CIAC Scholar Athletes for Vinal Tech. Each year the CIAC honors students from each Connecticut High School who exemplify excellence in athletics and academics.

Kayla is captain of the Vollebyall and Softball teams. She is a Student Congress officer and a member of the Yearbook Committee. After graduating, Kayla plans to study baking and pastry work at Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island.

Nate McCarthy was on the Wrestling and Football teams. He is ranked at the top of his class academically and is a member of the Student Council, and the National Honor Society and an officer in the Student Congress. Nate will be studying Programming Engineering at the University of Connecticut on a full scholarship.

Both Kayla and Nate were honored along with students from all over the state at the annual CIAC Awards dinner at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Sunday, May 6th. Congratulations!
