Senior
Auto Tech student Andrew Marzec has been working as an automotive
apprentice at Complete Auto Repair Specialists (C.A.R.S.) in East
Berlin for over a year. C.A.R.S. has been in business since 1991
and has over 500 customers in the Berlin and New Britain area.
Owner John Natale has been training Andrew on the latest and most
up-to-date diagnostic tools which include scan tools and a laptop
computer program that can monitor every last electrical function
on any modern vehicle and pinpoint the exact location of a possible
problem.
About his experience, Andrew says, "Working at a private
repair facility instead of a dealership, has been a great benefit
to me because at C.A.R.S. I can work on every car out there and
get a feel for what I enjoy and what I need to improve on."
When he started, he did mostly basic tasks such as oil changes
and safety checks but now he is working on more in-depth projects
such as diagnostics and inspection or repair of various automobile
systems: charging, cooling, ignition, intake, and exhaust systems.
Beside all the technical knowledge, Andrew said that he has also
learned good and safe work habits and how to manage his time effectively.
Andew says that his work at C.A.R.S. has definitely made him decide
on a career in the auto tech field. As for the future he says
"I would love to work on top-end cars like Porsche or Ferrari."
