Fashion Tech Students
Compete in Design Competition
Sponsored
by American Heart Association
10th, 11th, and 12th grade Fashion
Tech students were hard at work designing and creating original
red dresses in celebration of the American Heart Association’s “Go
Red for Women” campaign. One dress was selected from several
schools and companies around the state to be modeled at the "Design
a Dress" Fashion Show on
Sunday, February 3rd at the Inn at Long Shore in Westport, Connecticut.
The show was sponsored by the Community Health Network Foundation
of Connecticut and was part of the third annual "Modern
Tea", an event that helps heighthen awareness about women
and heart disease.
To help choose the
dress that would represent Eli Whitney the Fashion Tech department enlisted
the help of the entire 9th grade class by holding a fashion show. Fashion Tech
students modeled their gowns and at the end of the show, 9th graders were asked
to vote for the dress they liked best.
Senior
Natalie Rodriguez was chosen to represent Eli Whitney at the “Red Dress
Competition”. All
of the fabric for the "Red Dress Competition" was donated by retired Drafting
Department Head Charlie Egervari. Below
are some photos of the Senior Fashion Tech students at work on their entries.
