10th
and 11th grade Graphics
Technology students were
given a tour of the CCL
Label plant in Shelton, CT. As part of tour, students
took part in CCL’s “ Label
College” where
they learned about various printing processes such as Lithography,
Flexography, Gravure and Screen printing used at their plant.
Additionally
job readiness skills, interviewing and job applications were
covered by CCL’s personnel department. Students were
given a plant tour which covered areas from design to production
and concluded with a buffet lunch served in the conference room.
CCL
is a 1.6 billion dollar business which has plants across the
world. Some of labels produced at the Shelton plant include
Axe shower gel, Eucerin lotion, Act mouth wash, Head and Shoulders
shampoo as well as Pantene products and many others.
My
Kyle Knight, the operations manager, explained to the students
that the skilled Graphics workforce is retiring and needs to
be replaced. He is anxious to hire some of our graduates. |
