Eli
Whitney’s 9th Grade Health Technology class went to
Columbus House Emergency Shelter to donate a great deal of
coats/clothing for the needy. There were mixed emotions from
our freshmen students when they arrived at Columbus House,
but as the students entered the shelter, they were welcomed
with open arms, and thanked numerous times for their donations.
While
at Columbus House our students spent time sorting, hanging,
and folding clothes. They were given a tour of the facilities
and made such an impression on the staff
with their maturity and caring that they were asked to return
and volunteer in whatever capacity they could. It
was an eye opening experience for the students who realized
we all need to be thankful for what we have.
The
Health Technology department would like to
thank everyone at Eli Whitney for their donations and
time spent helping to make this field trip become a reality. They
plan to go back
to Columbus House again soon, so please, keep the donations
coming. It is obvious that people in this community truly
appreciate the needed assistance. |
