On
Monday, March 10th and Tuesday, March 11th the Freshmen and
Senior Health Technology students helped out at the St. Ann’s
Soup Kitchen in Hamden.
Not only did they help prepare and serve food they also got
to pratice using some of their health tech skills. They
provided medical screening including blood pressure screening,
blood sugar testing, pulse oximetry and EKGs to the client
as well as volunteers who do not have access to medical care.
The students provided written results, reassurance, a willing
ear to listen as well as health education information. The
manager has invited the students of Eli Whitney back on a
regular basis because of the success and positive effect they
had at St. Ann's. |
