Eli
Whitney came together once again to celebrate Pi Day. The Math
department sold yellow and blue 2009 Pi Day t-shirts to raise
funds for the Eli Whitney Math League. Since Pi Day March
14, fell on a Saturday this year the students and faculty
wore their shirts on Friday, March 13, 2009 to celebrate the
day.
This
year Eli Whitney celebrated Pi day with a Jeopardy game competition
among the members of the Math League. In addition to the Jeopardy
game, the other competitions were: the hula hoop contest won
by Rakiya Davis (11th gr.), the Pi memory contest won by Angel
Vazquez (10th gr.) and the infamous pie eating contest won
by John Irizarry (10th gr.). The Eli Whitney Math Department
is in the process of arranging a school wide Math League competition
for all four grades! |
