The
Eli Whitney Junior class and the Health Technology trade collaborated
to hold its sixth blood drive in three years to support the American
Red Cross. Sophomore and Junior Health Technology students
had a real life opportunity to greet and register potential donors
and start them in the screening process. Several students
and staff who donated returned after their experience last year
to give again. We collected approximately 35 pints of blood. Each
can save up to 3 lives! Hopefully no one will need the blood,
but it is a good feeling knowing that we may potentially help
to save almost 100 lives.
The Culinary Department provided refreshments for all the donors. Several of Eli Whitney’s new teachers showed their school spirit by supporting this event, and as always, we have several veteran teachers that we always count on to give. The Health Tech students who helped out at this event gained valuable, authentic experience directly related to their career aspirations. Our thanks to all! |
