On Friday March 28th Eli Whitney students competed in the state SkillsUSA competition.
Here is a breakdown of how Whitney Students preformed:
Carlos Cepeda took 1st place in the extemporaneous speech competition. He also took home the prestigious President’s Award and a $4,500 in scholarships. He’s headed for the Nationals in Kansas City in June for a second time.
The Eli Whitney Opening and Closing Team took 2nd place in the State.
Ram Gigantone took 2nd place in the Freshmen Leadership Series.
Dantrell Latta was a finalist in the Freshmen Leadership Series.
Courtney Burns placed 3rd in the First Aid/ CPR category.
Koulou Toupou and Brittni Davis made it to the final round in the First Aid/ CPR category.
Arthur Dziurzynski was a finalist in Jobs Skills Demo O.
Sharonda Barnes earned an Ambassador Award and made it to the semi-finals for Interviewing.
Genesis Baez earned an Ambassador Award.
Our Quiz Bowl team which was a last minute entry for Eli Whitney placed fourth in the semi-finals.
The unsung heroes of the SkillsUSA
team were Theodore Paecht, Tiffany Drayton, Raul Cornejo,
Keyvin Rodriguez and Ranisha
Davis.
