| Welcome
to H.C. Wilcox Technical High School. Our aim is to encourage
every learner to work to his or her highest potential. The
learning tradition at H.C. Wilcox Technical High School
is exceedingly rich. Outstanding academic and technical
programs have been offered at the school since 1918. Our
faculty provides diverse instruction to students in order
to prepare them for the world beyond high school. It is
our goal to give our students the marketable skills that
are necessary to compete in a global economy and a rapidly
changing technological society. We offer thirteen occupation
specific technologies in addition to our academic courses
and adult education programs. The curriculum is new, varied,
and prepares our graduates for the rigors of post-high school
academic study, and provides them the problem-solving skills
requisite for success in a technological career. Our curriculum
is aligned with the Connecticut Frameworks and our students
have advanced on statewide assessments that are indicators
of progress for The No Child Left Behind Act.
The
H.C. Wilcox Technical High School completed the New England
Association of Schools and Colleges Evaluative Study in
the fall of 2001. Wilcox, without difficulty maintained
this accreditation. This accreditation has been upheld and
was confirmed through the Association's 2003 Two-Year Progress
Report.
Wilcox
proudly continues to grow. We have recently enhanced and
diversified our curriculum. Students can now choose from
a number of new elective courses at the school and participate
in course work offering differentiated instruction. Our
upcoming campus additions such as the new gymnasium, new
hairdressing/cosmetology/barbering technology shop, new
sports park, and our new cafeteria art wall painted by world-renowned
artist Susan Kaprov. A climate of excitement is clear at
H. C. Wilcox Technical High School . The entire school community
is eagerly anticipating the changes that our renovation
project will bring. We are pleased that you have chosen
Wilcox as part of your venture into life-long learning.
Sincerely,
Richard
Cavallaro,
Principal
