Grade students recently worked on a fun but challenging project
in Ms. Czerwinski's Physics classes. Working in groups, students
had to design mini-catapults. The goal of the project was to use
ordinary materials to construct a mechanical egg launcher that would
allow one raw egg (encased in some container of the student’s
choosing) to be launched and to land on the ground at least 5 meters
away without breaking. One of the launchers landed an egg 31.5 meters
away that survived intact. Below are some of the teams with their
catapults. |
