Students have a chance to use (and learn) art skills in a variety of creative and fun projects throughout the school year. |
Astronomy |
Offers students time to discuss such things as black holes, extrasolar planets, etc. Current events in astronomy also are discussed. Students make their own star charts & watch videos. A field trip to the Boston Museum of Science and night viewing sessions are also planned. |
Chess |
Chess is fun and challenging! Come and learn how to play, or test your skills against other students. Your record is kept so you can improve your game. You may be able to even join the chess team! |
Guitar Hero League |
If you enjoy Guitar Hero and would like to compete for fun and trophies…this is the place! All skill levels are welcome. Top 20 students play in a playoff tournament later in the year. A small participation fee is required. |
Crotchet |
If you enjoy crochet or would like to learn how come join us. Meet new people and learn a new skill! |
Dodgeball |
That’s right “Dodgeball!!” Come and try out your skills while having a great time! 5-6 player teams are created and the competition is wild at the annual tournament. All students must maintain a 70 average in all courses to be eligible to play. |
Film |
Previews “classic” films, many of which are from the American Film Academy’s “100 Greatest Films of All Time”. All genres are involved such as comedy, drama, horror and historical. Parent permission is required. |
Frisbee |
This is your chance to make some new friends while having fun playing Frisbee. Teams are randomly chosen and play outside or in the gym weather permitting. Club is limited to 18 members per cycle. |
Newspaper |
The Wilcox newspaper gives students a chance to use computer, photography and writing skills to create a fun and informative product for students in the school. Try your hand at being a reporter, an editor or a desktop publisher! |
Animal Behavior |
Learn about topics related to animals such as: animal training, intelligence, careers, communication, entertainment, conservation, welfare, research, endangered species, therapy, rescue and more. We will have discussions, movies, guest speakers and more. |
Multicultural |
This club focuses on projects throughout the year that relate to a variety of cultural events. The final project is the celebration of International Day in June. The day entails different cultural events such as dress, informational posters, dancing, etc. Club members also participate in field trips. |
Social/Partner Dancing |
Learn different types of “couples” dancing such as Salsa, Meringue, Mambo, Cha Cha, Swing, Waltz and the Foxtrot. A great way to meet new students. |
Scrapbooking |
Have fun and be creative in designing and filling your own personal scrapbook. Tools and resources are supplied. Students need to bring your own scrapbook and photos. |
Basic Yoga |
Yoga is a mind-body practice designed to improve overall health, strength, flexibility & mental clearness. Learn yoga postures and stances. |
Electronic Banking Monopoly |
Learn “real-world” economics, competition, & strategy, try to stay out of jail, & try to get filthy rich. Unlike older versions, players use a “bank card” to make transactions. |
