Perla
Rivera from the Wilcox Health Technology department placed 8th
in the nation at the summer SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City.
Perla participated in the Nurse Assisting competition. "There
were so many thousands of people and it was just an awesome experience" said
Perla. She also enjoyed meeting so many great people from all
over the United States.
The
most fun she had was trading pins from other states. Each state
has its own pin design and its a goal of the competitors to see
if they can collect pins from all 50 states. She was also able
to enjoytime
at a local amusement park and the mall with fellow students.
"It
was really special to me too, when I came home, my family had huge
welcome home signs and congratulations!" she said. Perla is
a senior at Wilcox this year and has hopes to continue her education
in the healthcare field. |
