The Windham Tech Boys’ Basketball team finished the 2007-2008
season as one of its most successful in the past 10 years. The
Team finished the year with a 13-11 record and a 2nd place finish
in the CSC East Division. The Team won its quarterfinal CSC tournament
game over the CSC Central Division Champion O’Brien Tech
77-69. The team lost a thrilling 91-84 overtime game versus East
Division Champion Ellis Tech in the Semifinals. In the state Tournament
we were the 19 seed and traveled to the 14 seed Eli Whitney and
won a wild game 94-88 in overtime. We were knocked out of the state
tournament with a loss to the #2 overall seed Gilbert.
The team finished the season as one of the most prolific offenses
in school history. The team finished the year averaging 67.0 points
per game only the 1986-1987 team that averaged 67.9 and the best
team in school history the 1987-1988 team that averaged 69.0 points
per game scored more then this year’s squad. The team was deadly
from 3 point range knocking down 143 threes during the season which
57 more then the previous school record for three’s in a season
by a team.
The team was led by four seniors this year. Captain Jose Arriaga
who was named 2nd team all star and averaged 6.4 points and 8 assists
a game. Captain Jorge Jimenez a defensive standout and led the team
in charges taken. Luis Camacho the teams leading scorer at 17.0 points
per game and led the team in threes with 55 on the season. Tyler
Doiron averaged 8.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game on the season.
There were three juniors on the varsity team this year. Captain Kyle
Hooper one of the team’s best defensive players and all around
offensive players averaged 7.2 points per game while racking up many
rebounds and assists. Angel Rivera the long range threat who had
19 three pointers, averaged 7.0 points per game and was one of the
teams best offensive rebounder’s. Danny Roberts had many big
shots in clutch situations averaged 6.6 points and had 18 3 pointers
on the season.
Rounding out the varsity team were two sophomores. Anthony Dejesus
who is a top defensive player and playmaker as a point guard also
led the team in free throw shooting. Jose Dasouza averaged 6.3 points
per game and was second on the team with 25 - 3 pointers.
The JV team finished another successful season with a 12-6 record.
Mike Constant, Devin Grenier, Luis Garcia and Nick Faba were key
contributors throughout the season. Cody Lemire, Nick Follansbee
and Stephen Mooney and Mark Fahey also made some big contributions
late in the season coming off the bench. The Freshman team also
had a fine season finishing with a 4-4 record. Troy Carpenter,
Chris Carr, Kris Cote, Sean Donlon, Dylan Dube, Shawn Hepton, Brandon
Parenti, Christian Perry and Chris Yates all did a great job during
the season. The young players on JV and freshman teams did a great
preparing themselves to become varsity players in the future.
