Tech PFO
February 13, 2007
Meeting Minutes
The
meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. in the Chef’s Hat
Restaurant by Laurie Vertefeuille.
Attendance:
Laurie Vertefeuille (PFO President), Al Wilder (PFO Vice President),
Karen Ford (PFO Treasurer), Corinne Fitting (PFO Secretary), Kristen
Michaud, Joan Michaud, Cindy Hair, Tina Abell, Judy Warren (Assistant
Principal)
Presentation:
Joan Michaud, of JC Embroidery, showed samples of tech-wear with
the WT Tigerhead and embroidered lettering for our consideration.
The samples included sweatshirts and a baseball cap. She also provided
catalogs of the items that she could obtain for us. They have experience
doing fundraisers at other schools. There is no minimum order, and
a 7 – 10 day turn around should be expected on orders. It
was suggested that the PFO choose 6 – 8 items and the embroidery
desired and she will price them out for us. If anyone has preferences
on the types of items, e-mail Ms. Vertefeuille, who will follow-up
with Ms. Michaud. A hooded sweatshirt, zip sweatshirt and baseball
cap will be included.
Ms.
Warren also joined the meeting for a while. She noted the after-school
program will be starting up in March, and it will have an academics
focus. The CAPTs are coming up in March. This Thursday night (2/15)
will be shop orientation for freshman, and parent-teacher conferences.
Secretary’s
Report: Minutes from the January 9 meeting accepted with changes:
“Mr. Ashton” should be “Dr. Ashton” and
in the last paragraph under “New Business”, “2006”
should be “2007”.
Treasurer’s
Report: Checking Account Balance is $2,904.37 ($746 of which are
held for reimbursement to other organizations). Ms. Ford noted that
a disbursement to the Student Council from the cheesecake sales
was made this month.
Old
Business:
Ms. Hair, Ms. Michaud and Ms. Abell presented an update on the cookbook
fundraiser. The book is put together and ready to be mailed to the
company to have a proof printed. A total of 348 recipes were collected,
and 87 cookbooks were reserved. Advertising totals of $825 were
sold. There were a number of unexpected difficulties with creating
the cookbook, but it should be an easier task if the PFO decides
to do this again. It was decided to order 600 copies of the cookbook,
which will be sold for $10 each. The books will be shipped to Ms.
Ford’s home for safe keeping. Ms. Abell will put together
an order form and a digital file of the cookbook cover for Ms. Fitting
and Ms. Michaud. Ms. Fitting will work with the school to get the
forms up on the web site. Ms. Michaud will work on getting order
forms out in the next school mailing. The PFO would like to acknowledge
all the hard work by the many people involved in putting the cookbook
together, particularly the efforts of Ms. Hair, Ms. Michaud and
Ms. Abell.
We discussed the proposed changes to the revised PFO By-Laws and
Constitution. Additional edits were suggested by Ms. Michaud and
Ms. Ford. A vote was taken to accept the proposed changes to the
PFO By-Laws and Constitution (as modified at this meeting). Ms.
Fitting will make the final changes, e-mail them to regular attendees,
and ask the school to post the revised documents on our web page.
Discussions
of the tech-wear fundraiser flyer and support for future athletic
events were tabled until next meeting.
Mr.
Wilder looked into the arrangement with the Alumni Association on
the bottled water sales. The Association will provide bottled water
to the PFO (and other organizations at the school). The bottles
are sold for $1 each, which the PFO keeps, and the Alumni Association
will then match the sales, dollar for dollar, with a cap of $3000.
New
Business:
Ms.
Vertefeuille will run the PFO table on Feb. 15.
A
letter from Dr. Ashton regarding the summer reading program was
distributed to the attending PFO members. Mr. Wilder will initiate
and coordinate our feedback for this program to Dr. Ashton.
Meeting
adjourned at 9:10 pm.
The
next meeting is scheduled for March 13, 2007.
