Windham
Tech PFO
March 13, 2007
Meeting Minutes
The meeting
was called to order at 7:20 p.m. in the Chef’s Hat Restaurant
by Laurie Vertefeuille.
Attendance:
Laurie Vertefeuille (PFO President), Al Wilder (PFO Vice President),
Karen Ford (PFO Treasurer), Corinne Fitting (PFO Secretary), Kristen
Michaud, Cindy Hair, Tina Abell, Mary Paule Monks (WT Guidance),
Kirk Murad (WT Principal)
Secretary’s
Report: Minutes from the February 13 meeting accepted with no changes.
Treasurer’s
Report: Checking Account Balance is $2,904.37 ($746 of which are
held for reimbursement to other organizations).
Old
Business:
Ms. Hair reported that the proof of the cookbook came in today.
It was divided up among the members to check against the originals
we sent in. Everyone needs to finish reviewing and send in any changes
to the school by Friday. Ms. Hair will then return to Jumbo Jack’s
for printing. We have some advance sales. And, we will put sign-up
sheets in the Teacher’s Lounge and Guidance Office. The ordering
forms are also up on the web. Ms. Vertefeuille created a certificate
to recognize the students whose entries were selected for the cookbook.
We
discussed choosing tech-wear to offer for next year. Ms. Vertefeuille
would like input from the group for the next meeting on what types
of tech-wear people want.
Support
for future athletic events. This year, we have raised approximately
$113 in bottled water sales, $68.50 in basketball concessions, and
$25.00 in tech-wear sales at games. The PFO voted to donate the
$68.50 to WT Athletics Department. The baseball/softball/track seasons
are coming up. When the Spring Schedule becomes available, Ms. Monks
will coordinate with Mr. Wilder on the sharing the schedule. We
would like to coordinate better with the parents and teams on offering
the concessions and get more parent participation. Mr. Wilder will
contact each spring sport coach to see if we can get a parent contact
for each.
Ms.
Vertefeuille had a PFO table at shop orientation and made a few
sales. It was good to have PFO presence at the event.
New
Business:
We
discussed sharing fund-raising profits with other school groups.
It would be a good idea to establish a policy in how the PFO shares
profits and to make sure we have buy-in from the group asking for
funds. Mr. Wilder knows of an application form that another school
Booster Club uses, and we’ll take a look at that at the next
meeting, and work on what type of policy we want to establish.
PFO
needs to begin considering fund raising options for next year. Ms.Vertefeuille
has received a number of fund-raising flyers, and we went through
a few options, though nothing was decided. Ms. Monks will provide
the PFO with the letter listing the guidelines for fund-raising
for next year.
Linda
R. Martin Foundation: This foundation is run by a family with recent
graduates and students at WT, and it provides scholarships for WT
students in addition to supporting other worthy causes. They are
looking for donations for a silent auction and dinner to be held
in May, as well as attendance by PFO members.
The
new Summer Reading program was discussed. The incentives (prizes)
for reading don’t need to be provided until the fall. Mr.
Wilder will keep in touch with Dr. Ashton on this in the meantime.
Meeting
adjourned at 9:10 pm.
The
next meeting is scheduled for April 10, 2007.
