Requirements for Employment as a Dental Assistant
Tuition, Fees, and Other Program Costs

At the completion of the Dental Assistant Program the graduate is prepared to:

  • Function effectively in assisting the dentist in caring for the patient with emphasis on comfort, safety and efficiency
  • Apply infection control practices in accordance with CDC recommendations
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills, professional ethics and personal integrity
  • Demonstrate competency in basic dental laboratory, radiology and office procedure skills
  • Effectively communicate using verbal, non-verbal and writing skills
The Dental Assistant classroom at Windham Tech accommodates 18 students and is equipped with a smartboard for classroom instruction, computers for student use, multiple dental models for demonstration and both a media and a reference library. We have a sterilization area comprised of an ultrasonic unit, two autoclaves and a statim sterilizer. The dental materials laboratory consists of model trimmers, bench engines and dental lathes.  We have two fully equipped treatment rooms including an intraoral camera, computer charting and digital radiography along with a third operatory dedicated to radiology.

For clinical experience, Windham Tech utilizes a variety of private dental practices and public health dental clinics.

The mission of the Dental Assistant Program of the Connecticut High School System is to provide higher education to students who are interested in pursuing post-secondary study in the dental field. It ensures the student both academic and clinical success and instills a zest for lifelong learning. We support students in their pursuit of their personal and professional goals to become productive members of the dental health care team.
