of Achievement for Athletic Accomplishments
Oliver
Wolcott offers several Awards of Achievement for Athletic Accomplishments.
Our goal is to reward our athletes for their accomplishments.
INDIVIDUAL
RECOGNITION
- Sports
Banquet - At the end of every sport season, Oliver
Wolcott has a sports banquet in the school cafeteria. Student-Athletes,
parents, their friends and family are invited to a free banquet.
Each family brings a pot-luck dinner, and after enjoying the
meal, certificates, awards, letters, pins, and trophies are
awarded to the teams.
- Varsity
Letters and Pins are awarded to Athletes who participate
in a Varsity Sport. Captain and Manager Pins are also awarded
to our participants. Working managers earn their Varsity Letters
at OWTS.
- Berkshire
League Sportsmanship Award - At each Sports Banquet,
a member from each team will be selected as the most sportsmanlike
person on the team. The student must exhibit proper respect
for their team and their opponents.

Season - 4 Year Athlete Award - Each Student-Athlete
who plays the same two sports for four years will receive
a plaque at the end of their senior year to honor their commitment
to the OWTS Sports Program

Season - 4 Year Athlete Award - Each Student-Athlete
who plays the same three sports for four years will receive
a trophy at the end of their senior year to honor their commitment
to the OWTS Sports Program. Their name will also be displayed
on a banner in our gym.
- Berkshire
League All-Stars - Any Student-Athlete who is selected
to the Berkshire League All-Star-Team will have a plaque placed
in the Athletic Display Case in front of the OWTS Gym.
- Senior
All-Stars - Any Student-Athlete selected to a State
All-Star Team will have their name placed on a banner in the
school gym.
- All-American
Players - Any Student-Athlete selected to a State
All-Star Team will have their name placed on a banner in the
school gym. (Oliver Wolcott has one All-American Basketball
Player from 1975)
- All-State
Players - Any player that is elected to an All-State
Team will have their name placed on a banner in the OWTS Gym.
- John
Benyei Leadership Award - This award is given to
an athlete who demonstrates strong academic, athletic, and
leadership qualities.
- Scott
Arigoni Achievement Award - This award is given to
an athlete is good academic standing who has achieved the
most on the court or field in their athletic career. The recipients
name will go on a plaque in the trophy case.
- Kim
Holland Memorial Award - This award goes to a senior
varsity athlete who is supportive of their team, as well the
other teams in the school and is an inspiration to others.
- CIAC
Scholar Athlete - This award is given to a female
and male athlete based on their academic, athletic, and school
involvement. They are awarded with a plaque and a dinner in
their honor at the Aquaturf in Southington .
- US
Army Scholar Athlete - This award is given to a female
and male athlete based on their academic, athletic, and school
involvement and is presented by the Army National Guard.
- OWTS
Alumni Athletic Award - This award is given to a
student-athlete who demonstrates success in athletics, academics,
school involvement and overall success and positive attitude
and outlook.
- Ashley
Jacquier Memorial Volleyball Award- This award is
given to a volleyball player who demonstrates the love of
the game and friends, and continues to encourage their teammates.
- Wilfred
Tanguay Memorial Volleyball Award- This award is
given to a volleyball player who demonstrates love of the
game, strong leadership skills, and has accomplished
- 1000
Point Club - Any basketball player who accumulates
1000 points during their Varsity Career will have their name
placed on a banner in the gym and a plaque for their achievement.
- School
Records - As students break school records, their
accomplishments will be listed on the school website under
the "team accomplishment" section of their sport.
- Berkshire
League Individual Champions - These champions in
wrestling and track will have their name listed on a banner
in the school gym.
TEAM
RECOGNITION
- State
Tournament Team Medals - Each team member of a State
Tournament Qualifying Team will receive a medal and ribbon
denoting their accomplishments.
- League
Championships - Any Team that wins a League Championship
will have a banner placed in the gym for their accomplishments
- State
Tournament Banners - Any team that qualifies for
the Semi-Finals or higher in the State Tournament will have
a banner placed in the OWTS Gym.
- State
Sportsmanship Awards - Any team that is awarded a
State Sportsmanship Award will have their team accomplishments
placed on a banner in the OWTS Gym.
- Invitational
Tournament Awards- Any team that earns recognition
at an Invitational Tournament will have their trophies or
plaques placed in the athletic trophy case.
