The
10th, 11th and 12th grade Health Tech students listened to
Certified Professional Speaker, Ms. Clarke-Hudson speak tothem
about their future successes. Ms. Clarke-Hudson emphasized
self-respect, spiritual guidance and self-reliance as tools
to motivate young people for a lifetime of success.
Ms. Clarke-Hudson told
the group how she came from a rural farming community in the WestIndies
and never lived in a house with electricity until she went to Montego
Bay, Jamaica, for nursing school. She communicated how she never
forgot her humble beginnings and is always grateful for her quality
of life. She also brought up the fact that when she came to
the U.S., she was labeled. She said, “back home I wasn’t “black” or
a “minority” or a “single parent”…I
was just a PERSON!” She urged the students not to let anyone
or anything pigeon-hole them into “box with a label”.
Ms. Clarke-Hudson is dynamically active in many
aspects of the community, both local and international. She recently
co-authored a book, “Conversations on Success” which
was available to the students to buy and is on many boards of directors
such as the Danbury Chapter of the NAACP, the Rotary Club, The
Minority Business Association of Fairfield County, The Power Networking
Organization, and the National Association of Female Executives
just to name a few.
