through the eyes of the Social Sciences. Each grade has been designated
with a theme in which books are chosen to accompany that subject
matter.

As part of your summer reading, you are being asked to create a “Character Scrapbook.” This scrapbook will be representative of the book you selected to read and how you reacted to it…what about the book had the most affect on you? You complete the following tasks to include in your scrapbook..
Have fun with this and create a display of who you are and the important parts of your summer reading.
Assignment- Summer Reading Character Scrapbook
Students will use the character scrapbook to explain their thoughts and feelings about the text. The character scrapbook should be completed and turned in during the first academic cycle in the fall.

Include two (2) diary entries written from the point of view of the character you chose, describing key events, thoughts, descriptions, or feelings. (Write the diary entries as though you were the character.) |
Page 3 |
Create an illustration or a collage that depicts a significant event that occurs in the story to the character you have chosen. Also include a brief explanation of the pictures you drew or chose to include and describe how it relates to the story and character. |
Page 4 |
Select one appropriate song that could be the theme song for the character and include the lyrics to the song. Also include an explanation of how the song relates to the story and the character you chose. |
Page 5 |
Find an article or an ad from a newspaper or magazine that you feel relates to or describes the character you chose and also explain why you chose the article or ad and how it relates to or describe the character. |
