TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Social Studies teacher , Isabel Barnett, is Abbott Tech’s Teacher of the Year for 2009. 

A natural mentor, Mrs. Barnett is BEST mentor, master mentor, and former district facilitator.  As a trusted colleague, she was invited to participate on the National Honor Society Advisory Committee.  She is deeply involved in the professional aspects of the system.  She is a Social Studies Steering Committee member, has been on the Superintendent's advisory committee, and a Teacher Senate member.  She has also been a curriculum writer for Economics and Civics.

Mrs. Barnett has been teaching since 1970.  She started her SVFT career at Eli Whitney, where she was previously voted Teacher of the Year.  She cares deeply for her students. She was excited to move to a sunny room on the second floor of our renovated building where her plants are able to thrive along with her students.
