TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Art teacher, Tonya Clark, is Abbott Tech’s Teacher of the Year for 2008. 

As any educator knows, there is a core of staff at the school that you can count on to “be there.”  Ms. Clark is one of those people.

In her 12 years at Tech, she has been class advisor twice, has helped develop the current art curriculum, and heads up the Data Driven Decision Making (DDDM) team.  She is a student mentor, a BEST mentor, and she has also organized the schools’ talent show. Ms. Clark supports a great number of school activities, often with her two young sons in tow.  Tonya’s sense of humor livens up the staff room.  Her insight and experience make her a natural person to turn to for advice.

By the way, Ms. Clark also teaches art!  Last year, she encouraged the Seniors to participate in the “Pinwheels for Peace” project, decorating the grassy areas of our school with colorful symbols of peace.
