Educational Philosophy
Bristol Technical Education Center is committed to affording our
diverse student population with a meaningful educational experience
which will prepare them to confront challenges of today’s
changing technology. Our curriculum provides academic and
technical skills necessary to secure gainful employment, to pursue
post secondary studies, or to pursue a combination of both. Our
technical course curriculum is based on and reflects current industry
standards and the state’s curriculum frameworks. Our academic
curriculum includes instructional materials that reflect the Connecticut
Common Core of Teaching and Learning.
We believe that students of all abilities are entitled to pursue
education and career opportunities through a quality technical
education in a supportive, respectful and safe environment. It
is the responsibility of staff and students to model and develop
positive relationships. Therefore, an atmosphere of mutual
trust, respect, and decorum must be present throughout the school
community.
Successful education is an on-going, ever-changing learning process
involving students, parents, faculty, administrators, and the community. Solid
relationships with local industry help to cultivate community involvement.
Student work based learning programs build community relationships
and permit students to develop good work ethic, self-esteem, and
social awareness necessary for life long achievement.
