Bristol TEC Students and Staff Build Electric Car and Compete in Electrathon

Bristol TEC students and staff from all of the six shops worked together to build an electric car. The car was raced in the Connecticut Electrathon Challenge held in June and October at Lime Rock Raceway in Lakeville, Connecticut. The Bristol TEC team took 1st place in the Novice division as well as the “Best in Show” trophy in June and also took first place in their division in the Fall event.

The goal of Electrathon is to provide a learning experience that will build public awareness of the capabilities and potential of efficient electric vehicles. Developed around specific rules designed to keep cost down and competition high, these unique vehicles offer an opportunity and challenge to experiment, learn, and compete. The competition requires teams to drive an electric vehicle as far as possible on a closed circuit course for one hour, using a limited electrical supply.
