Senior
Carpentry student Emmanuel "Manny" Lee is getting real world
experience at a local company that is helping make the world
a greener and cleaner place to live in. Since last September,
Manny has been putting his building skills to good use at
the Center for Green Building, a Bridgeport based company
that specializes in the use of sustainable and recycled construction
products.
Manny
works three full days a week when he is in shop either working
on "green" construction projects or sometimes working
in the company's story on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport.
He says that he really enjoys working at the
Center for Green Building because he has learned a great
deal of new skills. He also emphasized that what he has learned
in the Carpentry program at Bullard-Havens fully prepared
him for his work at the
Center for Green Building.
Manny's
supervisor, Jay Habansky says that he has been impressed
by his work. "He definitely has the skills to do this job
but more importantly he has the postive attitude and good
work ethic that are key to becoming a success here." Habansky
said that they would like to keep Manny working with them
after he graduates.
Manny
says that working in the Work Based Learning program has
been great. "Where else can you do something you enjoy,
learn something new everyday and get paid to do it."
