Shriners Visit Bullard-Havens
The
Bullard-Havens chapter of Skills USA under the direction
of advisors Susan Buchter and Amber Stefania hosted a heartwarming
event on Thursday, February 26th which honored a recent burn
victim and representatives from the Milford Chapter of the Shriners
organization. It
all started when Fashion Technology teacher Connie Pulley told
her class of her granddaughter Maggie’s gas grill accident
and how the Shriners provided excellent care to Maggie free of
charge.
Senior
student Natasha James was so moved by the story that she organized
a fund raiser for the Shriners called ‘Tabs
for Maggie’. The Shriners, who collect the flip tops
to be melted down into scrap metal, were presented with 180 pounds
of flip tops. The representatives from the Shriners included
many clowns who greeted the students. Lunch was provided by the
Culinary Arts classes. |
