Wolcott Tech Sophomores Take Top Spots in Statewide Plumbing Competition

Two Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Sophomores accomplished an amazing feat at the annual convention of the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling (PHCC) association the first week of February. Alex Loya and Ryan Young took the first and second prize in a plumbing competion sponsored by the Kohler company. The event was open to any qualified plumbing contestant – contractor, mechanic, journeyperson, apprentice, instructor, homeowner, etc. Competitors were judged on perfection and time - you had to do the task perfectly and have the fastest time.

Alex who came in first place received a $1,500 check from Kohler. Ryan took home $500 of Kohler plumbing fixtures for the second place prize. Many attendees including several contractors were impressed by the work done by the CTHSS students. One comment summed it up, "Whatever you are doing with these kids, keep it up because it's working!"
