Zachary Roy, a student in the Manufacturing Technology program at Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, Connecticut, recently won a national design competition called "Innovator of the Future Competition". Sponsored by the Mastercam company, students had to create a design for the bridge of one of the new guitars being produced by Taylor Guitar, a leading producer of acoustic and electric guitars. The judges from Taylor Guitar were impressed by Zachary's entry stating it
"was an obvious winner for us, in that it is a simply handsome bridge that we can easily see as that component."
Zack won a $1,000 scholarship and a trip to El Cajon, California to tour the Taylor Guitars Factory which he took this past summer. David Langdon, Zachary's instructor in the Manufacturing Technology at Goodwin Tech, said that he was very proud of the honor earned by one of his students.
