CT Tech Schools to Partner with University and other Local School Districts
to Improve Learning of U.S. History

The Connecticut Technical High School System is collaborating with several other Local School Districts in a project to improve students learning in United States History. The "History is Central" project based at Central Connecticut State University, aims to increase the effectiveness of History instruction by connecting participating middle and high school teachers to the best in history scholarship, to local historical resources, and to an ongoing network of colleagues.

The project's chief goals are to increase teachers' knowledge of U.S. history content, their historical thinking skills, and their connections to historical resources throughout the state, in order to help them incorporate primary sources and historical thinking skills into the classroom, improving student learning and performance. Other school districts that will be participating in the project are Ansonia, Berlin, Cromwell, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield.
